Clifton School is a great place to work and learn. We have wonderful children who are encouraged to do their very best at all times.
Currently, our excellent class sizes and teacher/pupil ratio are a huge advantage to all our children who attend Clifton School.
We set high, but achievable, expectations for all of our children. We insist on high standards of behaviour and our children make us proud by achieving this. Our children are acknowledged for their good behaviour and our focus on the positive helps to add to the great atmosphere around our school.
The staff at our school are exceptional. They are all trained professionals whose number one goal is to improve the learning of the children. Our staff are all very aware of catering for the individual needs of every child in their class. Our Board of Trustees invest a lot of time and money in providing quality educational tools and resources to enhance our children's learning.
In our classrooms, our staff focus on Literacy and Numeracy. We believe that our children need to be taught the basics well. However, we proudly offer our children additional opportunities both in and outside of the classrooms. These include extension programmes, school productions, a variety of sports events, YMCA sports programme, Kiwi Can, school excursions and camps and a number of cultural and musical opportunities.
We have a new 'Discovery Centre' which has just been completed which includes our school library, 10 fully networked and internet capable computers in a sound proofed suite, tiered seating for performing arts, an interactive whiteboard, large issuing area for library books and a teacher resource and work area.
We also have a mobile pod of Apple iBooks, we are fully networked and wireless. Each classroom has at least one permanent computer and staff and children have access to digital projectors, cameras and video recorders. An Activ-board (interacitve whiteboard) is in two senior classes and it is our aim to get an Active board in all rooms. There are also heatpumps in every classroom - keeping the classrooms cool in the summer and warm in the winter.
The learning enviroment at Clifton School is outstanding with all children experiencing success and having their efforts and achievements celebrated.
