WELCOME TO KIWI CAN!
Kiwi Can is a life skills and values programme for Year 1-Year 8 students. It aims to help build children’s self-esteem towards a positive future by helping them to:
- become more confident
- respect themselves and others
- be better prepared to handle the challenges and opportunities that life will offer them
Kiwi Can provides a permanent and preventive model for teaching children a system of values,
respect for themselves and a feeling of belonging and engagement with the community around them.
The key message is “I can”, and by positively affirming this message, Kiwi Can teaches young New Zealanders that the first step towards a better future for the whole country starts with the
attitudes and aspirations of the individual. Kiwi Can believes that by supporting the individual,
building their self-esteem, and strengthening their basic values, a real change can be made in
downstream behavior patterns such as educational failure, anti-social behavior and crime.
